In a competitive and passionate game, the Marlins come out on top 9-4 over the defending champions. Middleboro got on the board early, scoring an unearned run in the top of the first to put the pressure on the Marlins. Both Marlins rookie, Arvin Nunez (4IP, 0ER, 6K), and Middleboro's Chris Dion settled in for the next two innings, until the Marlins took the lead in the bottom of the third. Rookie Dennis Hegarty (2-3, 3B) led off with a triple, followed by Ivinson Batista (1-1, 2B, 2HBP, 1BB) reaching after being hit by a pitch (thankfully not in the head). Both Hegarty and Batista would come around to score to give the Marlins a 2-1 lead. Middleboro would tie the game in the top of the 5th, before the Marlins pushed across 4 runs in the bottom of the inning after the first five batters reached. The Marlins added 3 more in the bottom of the sixth, with Middleboro adding 2 in the 7th before Ryan Pocock (3IP, 2ER, 2K) closed it out.
