Merrimack Valley Marlins 8, South Shore Giants 3
After playing to a tie until nearly midnight in their last meeting, Marlins starter Arvin Nunez (W, 6IP, 3H, 0R) was able to cool the red-hot Giants bats on a hot June day.
The Marlins capitalized on a strong approach from the entire lineup, walking 6 times while never striking out. The Giants got a gutsy pitching performance from Alex Estremera, who came in during the second inning for his first pitching appearance of the year and limited the Marlins to just 4 runs the rest of the way.
On the Marlins side, Arvin Nunez continued his strong rookie start, limiting the dangerous Giants lineup to only 4 baserunners through 6 innings, dropping his ERA to 1.00 on the season. The Giants rallied against Ryan Descheneaux in the 7th to score three runs, before Marlins catcher Jerome Harkins (1-3, HR, 2RBI) capped his spectacular day by back picking a runner at third to end the game. |
