Rookie Sam McQuaid sparkled in his first start of the season, hurling 5 strong innings while allowing only two singles. Conor Evers paced the Grossman attack, going 3-3 with a triple. He stole home in the top of the 5th to plate the game's first run, and then drove in what would be the GWRBI one inning later. Franz Strassmann came out of the bullpen in the bottom of the 6th with Grossman clinging to a 2-1 lead. After the first two Blue Jays reached base, Strassmann induced a grounder to 3B Juan Jacobo Lopez, who started a 5-4-3 double play to quell the threat. Strassmann got a flyout to finish the 6th, and then threw a 1-2-3 7th inning to record his first save of the year.
