Sun, 21 May, 10:00AM, at Nissitissit - Pepperell
Pepperell Red Dogs 12, Malden Dodgers 2
After 4 straight road games, the Red Dogs finally opened the home portion of their schedule at friendly Nissitissit on a beautiful day for baseball, while also being a beautiful day for Red Dog hitters, and especially starting pitcher Jeff Tully.
Tully carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning, but was broken up by a line drive single to left by Steve Lippi of the Dodgers. Tully finished the day giving up only the one hit, while striking out 5 and walking 3.
It was also a great day for Red Dog hitters, who put up 12 runs on 10 hits, and showed a lot of plate discipline, walking 9 times. The offense was shouldered primarily by Jimmy Stecchi (1-3, 2B, R, SF, 3RBI), Eric Guild (2-3, 2R, SB, 3RBI), and Rob Mershon (1-1, 2BB, HBP, 3R, RBI). Jeff Tully also contributed to his own cause in the bottom of the 6th, with a hard hit 2-run double.
The Red Dogs now turn their attention to one of their North Division rivals, the Beverly Indi |
