The Astros beat the Cardinals 9-8 in a wild thriller at Chelsea High School. Tyler Walsh drew a two-out walk-off walk for the game-winner. Down 4-0 in the third, former Cardinal Jesse Peterson homered to kick start the offense. The Cardinals made it 6-2 in the fifth on a two-run single by Dan Jalbert. In the bottom half a home run by Anthony Deluise sparked a four-run inning that tied it at six. Dave Kwajewski (3-4) came all the way around to score on his own three-run single that eluded the centerfielder and rolled to the fence. The Cardinals took the lead again with two in the seventh, but Kevin Gorman led off the bottom half with a walk and Steve Magsam laid down a sac bunt to move him to second. Then Tony Ricupero (2R,2RBI) ripped his third straight hit that scored Gorman and tied it at eight. Mike Vernon picked up the win in relief. Conrad Paquette took the loss.

Ricupero and Walsh plated the Astros tying and winning runs. Mike Vernon goes to 1-0.
