Despite some shaky defense and being outhit by the Mariners 9 to 6, the Marlins made it two in a row out of the gate for the season with the 7-5 victory over the Mariners at Cleveland Circle.

After the Mariners had taken the lead in the bottom of the 5th behind doubles by Corey Aldoupolis and Jon Freni, the Marlins broke through with 4 in the top of the 6th to take command. After the first three Fish walked to load the bases, Matt King (2-3, 2B, 3RBI) singled home two runs. Joe Montoya then brought home Paul Bracco (2-2, 2B, BB) with an infield grounder, and King scored on a ground ball by Karl Cyr.

Neil Doherty picked up his second win of the season in relief of Jim Kotarski (4IP, 1ER, 5K). Kevin Brennan came on in relief of Doherty to pitch two scoreless innings, striking out 4, to earn his first MABL save.
