The A's came out on top in this tough match, taking the first game of this double-header. The A's scored 1 in the first on an RBI single by Mike O'Brien. The Reds came right back and scored 2 unearned runs in the bottom of the inning. The A's scored 2 more in the 3rd inning, while Rob Sherman (7 IP, 2 ER, 12 K) silenced the Reds' bats until the 6th. The Reds tied the game up in the 6th, only to see Mike Elko blast a 2-run homer in the top of the 7th. Derek Garabedian scored in the bottom of the 7th, but it wasn't enough as Rob Sherman completed the game, recording his 2nd win in as many outings.
