Off of only 2 hits, the Royals took advantage of errors and some wild pitching to score 6 runs en route to their first win of the season. The hit of the game came from Brendan Ryan who hit a bases loaded double as the Royals were on their way to a 5 run 2nd inning. Mike Paulson tacked on the Royals' other hit, which later led to an insurance run in the 6th.
Ariel Martinez pitched 4 strong innings to get the win giving up 1 earned run and striking out 4. Jason Kurtz closed it out for the save and also recorded 4 Ks in the effort.
For the Orioles, Shaun Stack had a multi-hit game and Dan Gomes hit a deep RBI triple in the 7th. Demers pitched 4 strong innings of relief (4IP, 1H, 6K, 1R) |
