N. Andover Thunder 17, Boston Mets 6
The Thunder evened up their season series with the Boston Mets , 17-6, in a battle of Boston MSBL conference leaders. The Thunder pounded out 17 hits in the 8 inning game, called because of the 3 hour time limit. Paul Laurin gave a tremendous performance, both on the mound (7 innings, 3 runs, 7 hits, striking out 11, walked 2 and hit 1 batter) and at the plate (4 for 5 with a triple and 3 RBIs). Other offensive power came from centerfielder Frank Marr, who went 3 for 4 including a single, double, and a 3-run inside the park Home Run to deep right field. Shortstop Jim Beers also had 3 hits including a double for the Thunder, and Chuck April reached 4 times on a triple, single, walk and HBP.
After a shaky loss to the Mets last weekend (10-0) with 4 errors, the Thunder defense got back on track with an error-free game.
Mets offensive stars included Dan Jozefik, Tim Baker, Jamie Jones and Marc Hunter with 2 hits each. Jozefik h |
