This was not your typical forfeit victory, by any stretch of the imagination. The game was stopped after 8 innings, tied at 11, because the lights went out. After three weeks of trying to complete the game, it was decided that the game would be completed before the Shasky vs Warrior regular season finale. Both games had playoff implications for all teams. After much hullabaloo, the Mets were set down by Lips in order in the 9th but took the field with a non-roster gent, creating the forfeit.
