Cassell Club took advantage of two late inning American errors and escaped Playstead Park with a 4-2 win.
Bryan Lambert surrendered just 2 runs, 5 hits, struck out 6 and walked 2 in going the distance for Cassell Club to earn the win. Zach Rubin took the loss for the Americans working 6 solid innings. He allowed 3 runs but only 1 was earned, 5 hits and 2 walks to go along with 3 strikeouts.
James Likis drove in 2 of Cassell's runs, with a sacrifice fly in the sixth and a bases loaded walk in the seventh. A double by Rafael Munoz brought in a run in the sixth as did a Tim Dempsey single in the same inning. Munoz and Bobby McCarthy had two hits each for Cassell.
In the fourth, Mike Pagliarulo followed a Johnny Welch double with a double of his own to give the Americans an early 1-0 lead.
Welch led off the bottom of the sixth with his third home run in four games to plate the final Medford run. |
