The Rockies opened up the 2007 season in style. Facing Bluefish ace Chris Demers, the Rockies jumped out to an early lead in the first with back to back to back doubles by Bucciarelli, Corda and Conner. The Fish came back to tie it at 2 in the third and then took the lead in the 5th on a bases loaded hit batsman. That set the stage for veteran slugger Kevin Spitz in the sixth who sent a 2-2 offering over the rightfield fence for a three-run blast and a 5-3 lead. Rookie southpaw Tim Vogel, in relief of Mike McCarthy (six straight opening day starts) sat down all six batters he faced in the 6th and 7th innings to get the win in his first Rockies appearance.
