Led by Mike Vernon's breakout 4-6 in the two games, the stros kept hitting in game 2 of the double header and winning pitcher Scott MacKenzie took care of the rest (with a little help from James Clarahan). Plating four in the first, the stros would never relinquish the lead, but it got close midway through when MacKenzie made his only true mistake of the day and surrendered a bomb to left that will forever be known as the "not a home run". Clarahan (in right field no less) noticed that the runner had missed second base and the appeal was upheld. Ricupero gets the put out 1-4 on the appeal, but you can't fault us for putting it in the book as 9 unassisted. The sweep brings the stros to 9-6 and continues an unfortunate (recordwise) season for the Grays.
