Senators 4, Cutters 3
Matt Mothander improved to 3-0 as the Senators come back in dramatic fashion to beat a tough Cutters squad for the first time in team history. Mothander allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, on 4 hits while striking out 10. The Cutters struck first on big triples by Frank Kowalski and Bryan Sadler. In the 5th, the Senators chipped away as Dick Gillis drove a double deep to left and later scored on a single by Jason Ackerson.
Down 3-1 going in the bottom of the 7th, the Senators led off with back to back singles from Joe Burns and Dave Timmons. Sean Bourbeau followed with a walk. Burns would score on a fielder's choice. With two outs, Mothander laced a single to center scoring Timmons to tie the game. With the winning run on second, Matt Coyne delivered with a gap shot to left center.
Jay Wisner took the tough loss in a well pitched game. |
