Kit Kadlec scored on an error in the top of the 10th to give the Mets a 2-1 victory over the White Sox. Kadlec figured in both Mets' scoring rallies and picked up with the win with 4 shutout innings in relief. Tim Fortune started for the Mets and tossed 5 scoreless innings with 9 strikeouts.
In the 4th, Greg Cote and Kadlec led off with line-drive singles off Sox starter Brian Houlding and advanced to second and third on an outfield error. Brian Rochette followed with a run-scoring base hit to give the Mets a 1-0 lead. The White Sox tied the game in the 6th on a sacrifice fly by Mike McInnis. In the 10th, Kadlec drew a leadoff walk off Eamonn McDonough and, after another walk and an infield error, Matt Mead fought off a 2-strike pitch for a grounder that was booted at first base, allowing the winning run to score.
For the White Sox, Eamonn McDonough threw 5 innings of extra inning relief without allowing a hit. |
