Medford third baseman Ryan Maguire homered leading off the bottom of the sixth, snapping a 2-2 tie and lifting the Americans to a 3-2 win over the Lexington Blue Sox at Playstead Park. Orazio Azzarello started on the mound for the Americans and pitched five stellar innings of four hit ball, yielding two sixth inning runs, striking out three and walking no one. Nolan Boike earned the win in relief striking out the last four batters he faced. Rob Oteri pitched the first three innings for the Blue Sox giving up just one run on three hits. Chris Bodnar worked the final three allowing two runs on three hits including the Maguire homer. Bill Smeglin and Maguire each had two hits and an RBI for the winners. Johnny Welch and Steve Napier, whose fourth inning single drove in the first Medford run, also had a hit. Andy Sweeney had two Blue Sox hits, Tim Bryant and Ryan Duff had one. Jake Dillard had an RBI single.
