In a battle of the top two teams, Lexington came back and earned a 1-1 tie with a run in the bottom-of-the-seventh. Jake Dillard (Southwestern Oklahoma) singled to center to bring in Tim Bryant (Bentley), who started the rally with a pinch-hit single, with the tying run. Cassell took a 1-0 in the second when Kevin Donahue single to drive in Tim Dempsey who had singled. Bill Cooke (UMass-Amherst)and Tim Dunphy, a pair of 3-0 pitchers hooked up in a pitchers duel. Both went the distance, walked none and combined for 13 strikeouts, 7 for Dunphy.
