In a game that featured some quality late defense and pitching by the Sox, Matt LoPresti picks up the win in relief of an injured Marty Minns. LoPresti went 1 and 1/3 scoreless innning getting out of inherited bases loaded jam in the 3rd. Matt Smith then closed things out by going 3 strong scoreless innings. Smith yielded only 1 hit and 1 walk while K'ing 3 A's batters. Once the Sox gained the lead in the 5th off a Bissonette Sac Fly, a diving catch in left by Mike Lembo and a diving stop of an overthrow by Ivan Clemente helped Smith preserve the W. Sampson took the tough loss for the A's as he wen the distance. Jamal Saleh went 3 for 3 with an RBI.
