The Marlins and the White Sox have only played two games this season so they decided to make up for it by going extra innings. In the 1st, both teams traded a run. For the Sox, TJ Unger led off with a double and was driven home by another Will Bissonette double. For the Marlins, Andy Katz led off with a HBP, stole second and then scored when Paul Bracco singled, and the throw went for an error.

That was all the scoring for a while, as Martin Minns (6IP, 1R, 6K, 2H) for the Sox and Leonelli (7IP, 1ER, 2K, 7H) for the Marlins matched up in a great pitcher's duel.

Then, the game became the Matt Smith show as Matt (1 for 1, RBI) picked up the win in relief by driving home Mike Lembo with an RBI single in the top of the 9th. Matt (W, 3IP, 0R, 2H, 3K) then finished off the Marlins in the bottom of the 9th thanks in large part to a great double play turned by himself (who else?).
