N. Andover Thunder 2, Cambridge Cardinals 0
In a teriffic game with excellent pitching and defense on both sides, the Thunder prevailed with 2 runs on only one hit: a solo Home Run by Paul Laurin. The second run was a walk to Jon Story, with Andy Lucibello replacing Story as a DR. Lucibello stole second, and ran on a pitch to Gregg Bromley. Bromley hit a slow roller to Cards shortsop John Grande. Lucibello broke for the plate on the throw and just beat the throw from Cards first baseman Phillipo.
Laurin turned in a gem on the mound, striking out 12, walking only 1 and hitting one batter. He scattered 4 hits. Sandoval and Messon of the cards also pitched very well, yielding only 1 hit and 4 walks to the Thunder.
The Thunder turned in several good defensive plays to keep the score low: Chris Abadi went behind second on a grounder up the middle by Robert D'Agostino, taking a way a sure hit and likely run in the top of the 7th. Two great catches by Brian Chen in cent |
