With a prime example of just how competative the MSBL is, the team with the worst record in the division (Wellesley) beat the team with the best record in the division (Cambridge). Wellseley won behind the outstanding pitching performance of Joe Bacola who pitched a complete game allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. Wellseley scored early, getting 5 runs in the first inning. The attack included a 2 RBI double by Rich Jones and a two run single by Timmy Blank. Bases were loaded again in the 3rd and 7th innings but the Cubs escaped with no damage due to some excellent fielding.
