In one of the best pitched games of the season, Jeff James (8 K, 7 hits) of the Cardinals outdualed Al Wiesner (11 K, 3 hits) of the White Sox - both tossing complete game gems.

Billy MacDougall scored both Cardinal runs after drawing walks in consecutive plate appearances. Dan Jalbert and Chris Caprio each had clutch RBI knocks. Eddie Barber scored the sole White Sox run on an Aarron Hutchins fielder's choice.

The White Sox threatened in the bottom of the seventh inning, loading the bases with only 1 out. But Jeff James dug deep and proceeded to strike out the final 2 Sox batters to clutch his 3rd win, stranding the tying and winning runners in scoring position.

Both teams remain in first place in their respective divisions.

Al Wiesner and Jeff James, each with masterful pitching performances.
