Phil Motley extended his hitless streak to 12 innings, before surrendering a single in the fourth inning. Motley (6-1) threw seven strong innings in his first start since June 12. Brian Reiter had three hits and scored four runs to pace the offense. Motley helped his own cause with a pair of hits, joining Baker DeCamp and Andrew Marcus as Comets with two hits in the first game. Kyle Riley added a hit in his first appearance with the Comets since 2008.
